Bulky Item Collection is a free service that is offered to all residents in the City of San Francisco at no additional charge (it is paid for by residential collection fees). Both homeowners and rented apartment units are eligible for Bulky Item Collection. Bulky Item Collection is not available to our commercial customers.

RecycleMyJunk.com is a low cost hauling and clean up service that is offered to residential, multi-family and commercial customers in the City and County of San Francisco. Customers pay for their RecycleMyJunk.com pickup at the time of collection with either check or credit card. Account holders can have RecycleMyJunk.com charges applied to their garbage bill.

Bulky Item Collection Overview

To schedule a BIC collection:

• Tell our customer service representative exactly what items are to be collected.
• Call us by noon to arrange a next day pick up. If the day is fully booked, we will schedule your pick up for the next available service day. Bulky Item Collection service is scheduled five days a week, Monday through Friday. Call us by noon on Friday to schedule Monday service.

Service Rules

• For San Francisco residents only.
• Residential rate payers are entitled to two BIC collections per year.
• Participating properties must have an active residential or apartment account with Sunset Scavenger Company or Golden Gate Disposal & Recycling Company. The account must be active for minimum of 30 days.
• Tenants of multi-family apartments are entitled to one BIC collection per year at no cost and may schedule their own BIC collection.
• Limited to ten items placed on the curbside. Large appliances such as refrigerators, washing machines and stoves are limited to one of each type per collection.
• This program is not for household trash items or recyclable items that can be collected in your recycling cart (i.e.; paper, cardboard, bottles and cans).
• Multi-family owners are entitled to one BIC collection per building per year.
• Customers who have more than ten items can combine their BIC collection with a RecycleMyJunk.com collection (do not need to schedule through landlord or property manager). Program limits will be strictly enforced.
• Please place items neatly at the curb no earlier than 6:00 PM the day before the scheduled collection and no later than 6:00 AM the day of the scheduled collection.
• You are responsible for all material set out at your address.
• Unused collections do not accumulate.
