Waste Audits and Consulting
The San Francisco Board of Supervisors has mandated a goal of 75% waste diversion for all of San Francisco by the year 2010 and zero waste by 2020. Click here for a list of San Francisco businesses already meeting city goals by diverting 75% or more of their garbage away from landfill disposal and towards recycling and composting programs.
The effort you make in changing how you sort your waste not only helps The City of San Francisco reach the diversion goal, it contributes to San Francisco's efforts to preserving a healthy planet by reducing greenhouse gas emissions.

Construction and Demolition Requirements
Under the City and County of San Francisco's Construction and Demolition (C&D) Ordinance, effective July 1, 2006, construction and demolition (C&D) debris (such as wood, metal, concrete, asphalt, and sheetrock) taken off a site must go to a registered construction recycling facility and cannot go to landfill. The Ordinance also requires that C&D debris be taken to a registered facility that can process mixed C&D debris and divert a minimum of 65 percent of the material from landfill. Sunset and Golden Gate Debris Box Service is a registered transporter. The mandatory ordinance ensures that C&D materials are recycled and applies to all commercial and residential indoor and outdoor construction projects including repairs, improvements, additions, remodeling, and demolitions. A Debris Box Sales Representative is available to assist you with coordinating large projects and specialized reporting needs at no additional charge. Recology San Francisco operates a registered facility specifically designed to recycle construction debris. Sunset and Golden Gate Debris Box Service regularly deliver loads to San Francisco's construction debris recycling facility which recycles more than 65% of the C&D material - exceeding the City of San Francisco's requirement.

Customers who want to haul their own construction and demolition debris (in a pickup truck or other vehicle) can drive to San Francisco Dump at 501 Tunnel Avenue, San Francisco, CA 94134.
